Bullard: new media case study

Suddenly I am reading blogs and they all have fancy little “Bullard bladges”. And I start thinking…

Love him:

I Read Bullard

or hate him

I Read Bullard

But:

You have to commend Bullard and the Sunday Times for a great “new media case study”. The Bullard Bladges are a perfect example of how to make the most of publicity, marketing and new media:

Step1: Write insulting article (most probably under deadline pressure)
Step 2: Deal with confrontation, criticism and blogging warfare
Step 3: Re-strategise
Step 4: Launch blog
Step 5: The “publicity stealth move? – “This was a trap for bloggers!? (I’m so clever for being so cunning!)
Step 6: Media integration – Follow up in Sunday Times
Step 7: Work on blog rankings – the debate continues
Step 8: Smugly enjoy success!
Step 9: Make the most of marketing and publicity – launch bladgers
Step 10: Have a good laugh

Oh hell – just for this he deserves to have his badges all over the place!

P.S. I am a Bullard fan - read Bullard every Sunday before the blog story even surfaced. But the only way I will add a Bullard bladger in my sidebar is if he adds Feistyfemale to his! Highly highly unlikely! (I don’t support brands, thus I don’t wear branded clothing either - call it a matter of principle.)
