My EXCITEMENT - Garden Route Geek Dinner
I am really looking forward to (and getting very excited about) my first Geek Dinner – and no, it’s not just any geek dinner. It’s the GARDEN ROUTE Geek Dinner.
I have spent the last year and a half on new media studies and research, which recently culminated with web development, blogging, search engine optimisation and more geeky tricks than I can list on any given website. I have suddenly remembered the HTML, Frontpage and Dreamweaver from my first year (seven years ago) ,encountered PHP, and now “hack� things to work to my liking.
The success rate of my geekiness (wasn’t hard being a geek - I was quite a nerd when I was younger) can hugely be contributed to the fact that I have met truly GREAT geeks in this area that have coached and advised me, and taught me more than I could ever learn in any University course. (I also have the Frogs to thank for putting up with my “ton” of questions!)
It is with this in mind that I look forward to meeting the Cape Town masters of blogging – on Garden Route turf that is. Talk about the best of both worlds! Dutton’s Cove promises to offer a fantastic experience and I am sure it will be a dinner to be remembered!
