Technomadic Dinner, Creategy and Re-Perception!

If you want my pulse racing it’s simple… use words like innovation, creativity, invention, ideas, concepts, education, power, entrepreneurship, collaboration and business. Preferably all in the same sentence for maximum impact! ;-)

I had the privilege of attending the Technomadic Dinner last night – what an awesome event!

After Jon Foster-Pedley spoke on Creategy – you could actually feel the hype and excitement in the room – the creative, enthusiastic, can-do powers were awakened! Apart from the fact that most of us were squinting to see those dam dolphins – it was truly an inspirational POWER talk with many interesting points.

Although I was caught without a pen, paper or serviette to do my normal scribbling of notes, thoughts and questions (I would really like to get my hands on notes!) I did stumble across one of his presentations. (LOVE Google!)

Points that struck me:

  • There is a need in today’s society to re-perceive.
  • To survive in today’s chaotic world there is a need for innovation – this can only be obtained from fresh perspective.
  • Everybody is creative!
  • You need to be aware of yourself and your environment to get ahead and be innovative.
  • Don’t send your business ideas out into this harsh world without some prepping (love the tiger bunny!)
  • I believe that to re-perceive our environment is a difficult (but not impossible) mental shift to make. If you want to make an impact in your generation a whole lot of innovation will be necessary! You will need to understand yourself and your constantly changing environment to really have a head-start. And don’t forget the “creativity” then!

It is said that the top 10 jobs in 2010 did not exist in 2004! Our world has become a crazy place! We now prepare students for jobs that don’t exist, prepare them for problems we haven’t even thought of, and to deal with technology that hasn’t been invented – but sure as hell will be!

How does one stay ahead in a world that is constantly changing? New information is being created every day and this is growing exponentially! Incidentally that makes me wonder who answered all our questions before Google was invented?

My answer to the question of staying ahead in a changing world is “adapt or die”! Re-think your world, your perceptions, your beliefs. Re-think how you do things! Keep up with the change and the pace, and be dam innovative!
