27 Dinner – SUPER FANTASTIC!!!

Wondrous Dave discovered that Feisty drove all the way to CT for the legendary 27 dinner. She was rather amused at his concern, raising the question – Is it worth the effort, cost and travel?

Hell, yes!

Where else would you find a room full of like-minded, highly energized, extremely enthusiastic talented beings? There is simply no other event like it. From every logical aspect – educational, career wise, networking wise and business wise – it is simply awesome.

Last night was an example. There was hype and excitement, and every single individual had a contagious passion for web 2.0 and new media. It’s hard not to be inspired. I do believe that Stormhoek contributes towards a positive vibe by spreading some love of their own!

One of my favourite speakers Mr Creategy was there! Once again did an astounding presentation. You know a presentation is good when you can listen to it and learn something everytime. Hail the age of conceptual thinking!

Rafiq’s Ted talk experience had us all green with envy – I mean sponsored, to the TED Talks!!! The rest of us have to settle for iTunes podcasts of the event! (Bless iTunes downloads, otherwise we would really miss out!)

And what would an evening be without Henk’s humorous presentation on the complexity of user interfaces. It definitely made me think about how perception plays a role in our purchase decisions. Henk, you right – I can sell complex glitzy things far easier than boring looking ones! I must be evil!

I also met Glen from the ZA Show – wow, finally a victim that could give me the crux of podcasting. And Glen was so enthusiastic that I added my name to Podcamp! (Sign up now – space is moving fast!)

And of course chatting to Max and Eric always brightens up my day.

A superb event – thanks to what I call the “behind the scenes magicians who sacrifice time and drive this event to be dazzling! Well done!

PS. I was disappointed and somewhat agro to read about some negativity surrounding the venue – come on guys – if you can organize a free venue that can accommodate 100+ people – please feel free to do better. How about a thank you to the people that work extremely hard to make it all happen?

  1. How did I possibly not see you last night?? I’m not content to wait another 2 months!

  2. LOL, it must have been the fascination with the Mac acting up just before the presentation!!! Personally I blame it on the last slide in the presentation – if I was a pc(of JEALOUS woman temperament), I’d bluntly refuse to display that too!!!

Going to miss the next CT 27 dinner, but I am canvassing speakers for the next Garden Route Geek Dinner later in the year, interested?

  3. On the issue of the Garden Route Geek Dinner, KIngfisher Restaurant in Mossel Bay has offered to host. It might be a worthwhile idea to move it around a bit, perhaps we can start drwaing in potential members from the rest of the garden Route. What do you think

  4. I think it’s an excellent idea and it’s just that little bit shorter for our Cape Town guests. So when is the team setting a date?

  5. Was great to meet you at last Bev! Glad you enjoyed it!!

  6. You were there?

    If I only knew :(

  7. Hi Rafiq

I would love to meet you! Really funky talk by the way. It was just such an action packed 27 dinner, that it was impossible to get to everybody. Will spot you at the next 27/geek dinner!

  8. [...] people and was unaware that others were even there . Dark & packed it was. Do agree with Feisty Female though… Where else would you find a room full of like-minded, highly energized, extremely enthusiastic [...]

  9. My sentiments exactly. The venue may have not been perfect, but alot of the ‘chaoticness’ had to do with the energy of those present.
My thoughts penned @ Eish!! match yours. I am looking forward to the next one.
