27 Dinner: So many great minds, so little time

Stii & Feisty caught a plane for Jozi – what a trip!

Things I learnt on the trip:

  • Stii and turbulence don’t go together.
  • Joking about Nation Wide aeroplane engines falling out and then hitting turbulence – increases Stii’s nervous condition immensely.
  • Networking in the dark, can indeed be fun!
  • Bev and a backpack never go together.
  • Jokes aside. It was an incredible evening for me. I enjoyed every second of the 27 Dinner tremendously.

In the last couple of months I have met fantastic minds online – minds that have enriched me, transformed me and shifted my life into a completely different orbit. It was thus truly mind-blowing meeting these delightful people in person. On arrival, I was picked up by Darren who proved to be every bit as brilliant as he seemed online. We had a tremendously productive afternoon. It would have been an entirely worthwhile journey just meeting this innovative wizard … but the trip delivered even more astounding interaction. I spent some time with the Afrigator team - Mike, Justin, Marc and Stii: you guys rock! I know Afrigator is going to be a huge success with your passion, energy and creative ideas driving such a worthwhile initiative.

Finally it was time for the much anticipated 27 Dinner. Boy oh boy, was it fun! I met Mr Vincent Maher who is so on the ball with Thought Leader that he actually knew about comments made on the posts that I hadn’t even read [wow, impressive considering the number of contributors]. Meeting and chatting to Nic, Simone, Gregor, Carly, Rainer and Charl, Paul, Brandon, Eve and (young!) Tyler in person was an incredible experience. A big thank you to Roger who popped in after his Kung Fu exam – great finally meeting you!

The 27 Dinners really are fantastic – mind-blowing, brilliant and talented individuals all conveniently in one room! I felt quite at home chatting to people that I had got to know or have been working with online.

My sincere thanks to Mike for arranging our accommodation and transporting us all over the place. Dude, you are funny! A huge thank you to Darren for entertaining me all afternoon – you are awesome! Thanks to Primi in Melrose Arch for a superb venue and doing a great job despite the darkness. Thank you, Stormhoek Wines, for once again sponsoring you superb wines for the best networking event in the country.
