Are you a REAL A-list blogger?
“A-list blogger” or the “blogging elite” if you wish. What more is there left to say? This topic has been debated, analysed to pieces, voted down on Muti, voted up on Muti and yes…it is indeed a touchy subject in the blogosphere.
Why? I DON’T KNOW!
I read Vincent’s post [grinned all the way through it] and here is my two cents worth: There is no such thing as an A-list blogger, and why should there be? Bloggers write for different audiences and for different reasons. Although there are commonalities as to why people blog, each blogger has his or her own objective as to why they blog and what they would like to achieve through their blog.
What I can say is this – Vincent’s list definately lists industry and opinion leaders in their respective fields. Many of these people are my friends and brilliant beings who I admire and respect deeply. Honestly some of my favourite people are on that list – and their comments are priceless! The concept of an A-list wiki is definately intriguing.
So why the big fuss? Give credit when credit is due to “experts” or leaders in industry. Learn from the guru’s! How this is termed is of no value to the audience reading a specific blog.
I have to ask the individuals that point fingers at the “A-list”: Is this debate adding value to blogging and the web 2.0 community? I think not.
On a lighter note, I thought I’d point all bloggers to some frivolous entertainment. This little widget is based on the link love that you score. It also groups bloggers into different authority groups or rather “influential groupings”. You even get a cute little badge to prove your influence! Sweet ain’t it? [And it comes in pink!]
So are you an “A-list bloglebrity?
PS Vincent, can I create my own Order? Like, Order of the Baby Blog? [If Mike can transfer then I should be allowed to create one, right?]

Interesting thing for me is that there isn’t even a technical category on that wiki yet. Apparently engineers have better things to do with their time and the rest want to feel important as usual?
(Just kidding, no flames please…)

Charl. Screaming with laughter. There is no category – most probably because you were shoved into the IT “entrepreneur” bracket. [Hope you working from your bedroom to qualify.]
Your point is valid indeed. Since there are no real rules and nothing to qualify how you go about getting to the “A-list” you might as well start the Order of Professional Geeks/Engineers! I like it – it has a nice ring to it!

Couldn’t agree more with you – there is nothing that makes a blogger better than another blogger – far too many different factors to compare on, being is use of english, amount of money generated, or topics blogged about.
As you say, there are definite leaders in certain areas, but there is no elite blogger who is greater than others.
Thanks for writing this, it’s something I’ve spoken to many people about since the later half of last year.

The real issue here is who is on the B-list and what can we all aspire to

Chris – Thanks for you much valued comment. Always good to know you opinions are shared with others!
Love your blog!
SaulK – Mmm, B list, C list D list… I think we could do this military style! We can move bloggers up the ranks and give them extra “stripes” or rather badges on their blogs! Imagine Major blogger versus corporal blogger. I just can’t figure out how we will implement privileges….
