Play hard, tread lightly
Rocking the Daisies is creeping closer on my calendar. I am looking forward to attending South Africa’s first carbon-neutral music festival.
I am exceptionally curious to experience a festival that:
- Uses Bio-diesel from the participating restaurants to power the festival.
- Use hemp fabric, recyclable paper, biodegradable soaps, shampoos, detergents, biodegradable packaging, utensils and bags.
- Recycles through Interwaste.
- Has a “conscious cinema” at the festival to screen films and documentaries covering green issues. This cinema, as well as the Hemporium stand, will be powered by a Earth Power Energy Solutions using a combination of wind and solar power.
- Plants trees at the new low cost housing developments around the West Coast.
The festival is hosted by Cloof Wine Estate, who are committed to green initiatives. Cloof Wine Estate was named a champion in 2006 under the Bio-diversity and Wine Initiative (BWI) for the work they do to conserve pristine natural vegetation, rehabilitate previously cultivated areas, and minimise the impact that vineyard and cellar activities have on the environment.
If that doesn’t spark your interest, then maybe the fact that Eagle-Eye Cherry is playing at the festival at 8pm on Saturday, 4 October will!
Aren’t you curious to play hard and tread lightly in Darling this October?

If you can”t pry out the tread, drill a starter hole at the rear of the tread and cut the tread out with a keyhole saw. Energy Efficiency
