25 things about turning 25
Apart from the fact that I have been alive for a quarter of a century, I think it’s really cute that the square root of me is five! In addition people no longer really label you as a kid.
- I’m still high risk.
- However, I’m still trainable and who knows maybe even tameable!
- I have never been more comfortable with who I am. Take it or leave it . Pleasing everybody is hard work and boring.
- I have never been more loved! My friends and family have filled my life with phenomenal amounts of love and truly rock my world!
- Being single without serious commitments and not having to account for my activity or whereabouts is freakin awesome.
- I have now become really pedantic about only working with awesome people. It’s a non-negotiable.
- Finally embracing the woman’s body, haal-skade en al (cellulite and all). Little sad that concealer doesn’t go as far as it use to.
- Having little herb pot plants has become ok.
- So has being in bed by 10pm on a Friday night.
- My recovery time (after partying) aint what it used to be.
- Losing speed and agility is not a myth. It’s very real. At least humour seems to increase with age.
- I now know how to pick my battles. It’s a crucial life skill.
- The importance of goals and action plans has finally sunken in. The concept of sticking to them even more so.
- Social pressure really has no effect on me.
- Being in business at this age is great. There is no pressure. People practically wait for you to fail. Also, I have a head start…
- I have discovered the value of “Smile and wave” aka “Let it go”
- I now read the newspaper and worry about children, old people, the poor, the rude, the illiterate and get into heated arguments about being green, being late and the decline of public service.
- All the life lessons I have learned thus far can finally be applied in a less emotional and more practical way. Time is on my side.
- I think it’s ok being a big kid - I’m all about fun, being playful and having a giggle. I love laughing.
- Tequila will be party drink till the day I die…
- At 25, I realise how much I still have to learn. Where do I start?
- I have decided that when THAT day arrives – it’s non-negotiable – I don’t want a wedding – NEVER EVER! It freaks me out. It’s like having big parties.
- It’s ok, as a woman, to hate cooking (alone), shopping and doing nails.
- I’m really not attracted to stuff (kakkies) and pressies that much. I dig flowers, funny cards, dinner and dvd’s at home.
- I no longer think I’m a crazy freak when I giggle or loudly laugh at myself…

Very well composed list.
The best thing about being 25, and something you capture very well, is that at that age you possess the perfect balance of youthful exuberance and wisdom (well, hopefully.)
It is an age where you (and forgive me for butchering The Serenity Prayer) accept what you cannot change and resolve to change that which you cannot accept - but most of all recognise that sometimes accepting the unacceptable is also a solution.
