Back to basics, business and being in love
For the last 10 months I have been madly juggling workload. Those close to me will know that this year has been HECTIC! On the work front alone I juggled MANGO-OMC, Ripple, talks, networking and freelancing. I really devoted this year to work, identifying my key competencies, discovering new industries and pushing my business skills to outer space…
Although I’m a bit of serial entrepreneur, consolidation was needed!
I thrive on ideas, small businesses, innovation, creativity, problem-solving and working with exceptional people. I love freedom, control of my career (and income) and being in a position that allows me to collaborate on mind-blowing projects. Bearing all of this in mind, it was rather inevitable that I would end up consulting and strategizing for companies in more meaningful ways and cut down on the bits and bobs.
I have really enjoyed working with the MANGO-OMC ladies full-time on a variety of challenging and super cool projects. I consider them one of the best online PR agencies in the country and although I will not be working with them full time, I am thrilled that I will continue working with them on a consultancy basis. I have really grown attached to the team. The friendship and professional support from both Nicole and Cath has been life-changing.
I was reminded this year that I should ruthlessly pick only the coolest people to work with… it’s like oxygen! Innovative environments, cool people and solid ethics are the things that make me tick. When I set out two months ago to find this type of company/client I was rather ruthless in my approach. I looked at very specific things (company values, culture, communication, events, the type of projects they were working on, - hell I even analyzed their quirkiness).
It just magically happened! (I wasted no time in my negotiations either.) I decided to work with the World Wide Creative web marketing team! These guys totally rock - and I’ve had a jol so far.
I feel more comfortable and at ease now. I look forward to the year ahead, being the sorter-outer and the free-wheeling creator.
It’s good going back to basics and business. More importantly - truly being in love with what I do!

Wow, good for you Bev - Fred and the WWC team rock in my opinion. They just ‘get’ it and don’t just design websites but consider and explore the whole marketing and branding process.
Good luck I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

Bev, that sounds really exciting. I know that you are going to make a success of all the projects you choose to work on going forward - you’re a natural entrepreneur and you’ve got what it takes to work for yourself. Keep on doing what you love, you will automatically then keep on loving what you do (i stole that from Cath:).
May you find like-minded people that will continue to inspire you as you embark on this new journey.

Mel - I find myself in a fortunate position that all the people I currently work with ‘get it’. It’s a freakin blessing!
Janine - Thanks! I’m really on cloud 9 at the moment. It was a great but tough, action-packed year, the nerves were wearing out. The latest developments will ensure that 2008 ends with a bang!
Cath - Aaaahhhh!!! *speechless*
