It’s 2009 baby!
I did it – I stayed awake into the new year and didn’t go to bed by 10pm. Instead I spent it with special people by having a potjie (my sister rocks at making these) and watching fireworks and roasting marshmallows over candlelight.
I’ve read that everything in this universe is created twice – first in your mind and then in reality. I have most definitely learned and experienced this in the last year. My thinking and attitude definately set the tone for 2008.
Last year I sat here not only oozing with excitement but in search of excitement. I was determined to make 2008 a success. I felt excited, liberated and energetic. This year I sit here calmly, knowing it will be a great year. I know that I will be very successful all whilst growing spiritually, emotionally and mentally. Instead my wish and my mission for 2009 is to stop living life at 200km an hour and instead to live a quality balanced life. I guess I have finally made the conscious decision not to live to work but that to work to live.
Does that mean I don’t dream of achievement and moving mountains – absolutely not. I merely want to spend time on priorities, things that add quality to life and real meaning at the end of the day. Achievement should never come at the expense of happiness. I believe that at the end of a lifetime it’s your soul, strength of character and the difference you made that count.
It’s time to get real. While I will be upping my game drastically in a professional capacity, I do plan to prioritize family, friends and the things that make me tick.
My list for 2009:
1. Working on self-mastery and mind-management.
2. Breaking bad habits and a sense of complacency.
3. Spending time on things that matter – Things that add to the quality to my life and things that will make a difference in the long run.
4. Time consciousness – Making every moment a magical memorable one!
5. Relationship building – A conscious effort to spend quality time with the people I love and to build solid relationships with business associates, colleagues, industry leaders and friends.
6. Peace – More silence, stillness, outings outdoors and a monthly break to restore my energy levels.
7. Inner exploration – not only discovering what makes me tick and untapped talent but really working on undeveloped skills.
8. Achievement – making an impact and upping my game professionally.
9. Doing all of the above with a can-do attitude, humour and an element of fun and playfulness
Here’s too an action-packed, in-sync, love-filled filled 2009! May we all notice the little things, affect positive change and come out stronger wiser individuals at the end of the year.
