Control issues

I admit being somewhat weird in this department. I run my life with control and utter precision. My house is freakishly neat – my cups are aligned, my clothes are neatly packed according to both season and colour, cd’s according to genre and books according to subject, hell even the dirty washing in the laundry basket is folded. At work my filing is neat and labeled, I’m fanatical about task lists, efficient business processes, reaching deadlines, meeting objectives and ensuring that even my notebooks are works of art. Whether it is at home or at the office, I am bound to only buy things in black, white or beige –let’s face it – it matches everything!

So what is it about control that is so satisfying?

I think it’s the concept of order. Life throws all sorts of surprises at you. If you function in a simple, neat environment, where things are organised, it makes dealing with these niggling bits so much easier. Order saves time, saves money and helps keep your sane, don’t you think?
